Assets And Services
(QNX): Internet of Things
Advanced Sensing, Internet of Things
The BlackBerry IoT Platform offers a scalable messaging system for tracking assets. Data can be collected and shared using sensor hardware on assets like shipping containers, refrigerated containers and pallets. All the participants in the supply chain can access relevant and controlled data, applications, and devices according to permissions defined by administrators.
Big data and advanced analytics
Fleet managers can observe and oversee real-time fleet deployments with the support of intuitive search and display tools, which are included with the platform foundation’s analytics component. Vehicle data such as speed and braking can be tracked, along with driving and traffic conditions to facilitate optimization of fuel usage and potentially reduce insurance costs.
A vehicle using the QNX operating system can upload operating system software logs and fault reports using the log collection component. Those logs can then be reviewed using development tools such as the QNX Momentics Tool Suite. The log collection component and the device software update module combine to create a solution for accelerated software development for vehicles. These services also work together to provide improved in-field maintenance, and ongoing service delivery to vehicles.
Supply Chain Management
The BlackBerry® IoT Platform could be used to support a container tracking platform for transport ships and ports, as well as regulators and customs officials. On land, the platform could be used to support just-in-time delivery services.
