Assets And Services
For close to a hundred years, metrologists at NRC have been researchers, developers, and guardians of CanadaÕs most accurate primary measurement standards, science and technology. Disseminating the products of their unique expertise across the nation and around the globe enables innovation, supports international trade, protects the environment and enhances quality of life. We are uniquely qualified to conduct measurement research and provide metrological services, helping to build relationships across industry and government to ensure that we are able to effectively and efficiently serve the marketplace.
MSET is seeking collaborators in the fields of nanoscale measurement, environmental metrology, and biological metrology. Black carbon metrology: technical services include calibration of BC mass measurement instruments; we work with government and industry to improve the uncertainty associated with their measurement of black carbon properties. Nanoscale measurement: characterization of manufactured nanomaterials including cellulose nanocrystals, carbon nanotubes, and graphene; develop new reference materials for nanoscale materials. Biometrology: address emerging measurement needs in biotechnology, including vaccine adjuvants, antibody drug conjugates, and mass spectroscopy of proteins and peptides
Product Testing and Materials Characterisation
The Measurement science for emerging technologies (MSET) program addresses new areas of metrology that enable Canadian industry to capitalize on market opportunities that involve emerging technologies, such as biotechnology, nanotechnology and environmental technologies. The Metrology for industry and society (MIS) program develops, improves, and delivers metrology services that support industrial competitiveness and regulatory compliance in existing and evolving markets.
